Dental and Periodontal Conditions in Alcoholics from a Brazilian Recovery Centera

The aim of this study was to evaluate the dental and periodontal condition alcohol-dependents from a Brazilian Recovery Center. Sixty male individuals (30 alcoholic 30 non-alcoholic) aged between 32 72 years old were clinically evaluated. Interviews, clinical examinations obtained all participants. Pearson Chi-Square Test Exact Fisher test used compare categorical data. t-Studentâs adopted for non-categorical Multiple logistic regressions association variables in groups. alcoholics younger, consumed more tobacco, had lower frequency tooth brushing flossing, higher number missing decayed teeth, residual root, teeth with presence visible plaque index (OR = 0.5, 95 % Cl 4.4 5.5), when compared non-alcoholics. Alcoholics at Center performed poor oral hygiene, sites disease, worse hygiene than non-alcoholic individuals. As regards professional follow-up, there similarity groups
